SE7EN SOUTH: News

St PATIRICKS NIGHT AT PATTE's - March 18, 2010

Well we can kiss those musician union cards good-by. Both George and Kevin committed the ultimate sin. Playing while under the influence. Hey it wasn't our fault, it was St. PAtrick's Day...! We forgot to remain calm. But when we were overrun by the patrons- it was a free for all. The microphone was passed around like a greased midget at a biker rally. Oh the singing was something else. Like glass breaking...then Kevin gave up the microphone. Three minute intro to Folsome Prison...neither of us could remember the beginning words. (oh sure YOU KNOW it now)
One good thing came out of the night. Kevin got to meet a log lost cousin, (Danny McGroarty) not really, but I'll say we are related. He was a cool guy- gave us $20 to play "Danny boy" I taking a real leap of faith and guessing it's because that his name.

Upcoming Show St. Pat's Day - March 17, 2010

St. Patrick's Night at PATTE's SPORTS BAR & RESTAURANT will feature Se7en South's Kevin and George for the acoustic show. Many friends have threatened to show: so we are trying to cheat the show playlist enabling us to sneak in some drinking between sets and visiting with some out of towners. (don't tell the establishment- we're ripping them off blind with our contact-we wrote in free imported beer...AND THEY SIGNED IT!!")
See You There...Love To All Geo & Kevin

St. Patrick's At Patte's - March 30, 2009

Whew! Just recovered from the St. Patrick's show. . .We had a great time and super thanks for all the friends that came out to hear us, and enjoy the festivities. Se7en South had percussion this year with the addition of Nick "The Captain" Prokopchak on conga drums- Nick is back from Bagdad tour and we are greatful he made time to come out and play with us. "Guitar George" Stuscavage was nursing a head cold with plenty of Stella drafts. . . .hey, I think he was OVERSERVED! No the fault of the establishment, we did it to ourselves- We tried an intermission of Karoke of our own stuff of past cds- and well, we um.....how can you put this delicate spin on it...aaaaa- we forgot the words...Yep, we SUCKED! But at least it was just for a little while, when we sobered up, Nick kept us in time, thanks again Nick!
April NEW CD ALBLUMO TRIO (our third!) featuring Nick on three tracks he managed to lay down after meeting US Soil. Check out "French Toast" on the new cd- it's one of my favs. But then again I'm bias. Love to all and keep those cards, and e mails coming!

St. Patty's Show Wilkes Barrre - March 30, 2008

Greetings all. As if it looked like we would never be asked back to Patte's Sports Bar after the 2005 show, it finally happened. Owner Pat Patte had a change of heart and took a risk on having us back for one more show, this time it was just George and I as a duo. We are honored to say that our dear percussionist Nick "the Captain" Prokopchack is serving our country well in Bagdad, and will be back in a few months. We send him our best wishes for a speedy and safe return, as we do for all those over there faithful to our flag.
However the St. Patrick's gig was most enjoyable, we met some old friends and made some new ones- and had a metric ton of fun playing for the bar.
Looking back on March it is one of the highlights of the months and our sincere thanks to everyone who came out that night as well as the staff at Patte's who made us feel so welcomed..thank you!!
George is duct taping a new country band together and keep an eye out for him in the upcoming months. "Savahana Jim" Frushon is doing his nightly on the 88's and keeping that town swinging. I'm cleaning off some work from my desk and sitting down in April to get some more writing started for the upcoming album. . .Alblumo Trio...see a pattern forming here?
Well thee-thee-thee- that's all folks! For now
Love to all
Kevin Mc.
(keep those cards and letters coming) thanks!

reunion - January 29, 2008

After a year of just a few emails, Nick "the Captain" made contact with me via telephone on a cold January night. He had landed in Philadelphia from India and was making his way north, and we agreed to catch up at a local pub over a few beers. I had told him, I'd be late but count on me around 11:30 pm. Around 11:00 pm that evening I received a voice mail from guitarist George Stuscavage, that he thinks he's looking at The Captain playing congas with an area acoustic duo (who happens to be Dave Cupano -bassist from Alblumo Uno/ and area ledgend Big Daddy Dex) in a crowded pub, and urges me to drop by. It was an electric evening to be together with four of the five that created Alblumo Uno. (dearly missing James Frushon who is enjoying the sun in Georgia) It was great catching up and having Guitar George join in on stage with a vocal assistance on ZZTop's Tush- (which I'm not sure George knows the words)- but it was an evening to remember.
Fortunately Nick had been in for a few weeks and we had a chance to visit our old haunt Patte's Restaurant where we played on St. Patrick's in 2005 with a very active crowd (that's polite for destructive). The owner had let time heal all wounds and we enjoyed a great dinner with Pat Patte himself.
As the end of January returns, Nick tells me he's soon off to the belly of Bagdad for a few months- doing his duty for our country. We pledged to work together again when he's back on US terrain, possibly for Alblumo Trio (scheduled for October of '08.) Many of you have contacted me about the band through your emails - I'm asking all to say hello to Nck thru postings in our guestbook, because he assures me he visits the site often and appreciates all he reads when away from the US.
To our dear friend Nick, we wish you a safe tour and quick return, and bring us the beat when you can get under the roof.
We love ya, Captain.
All the Best
Kevin McG

Oasis Records has included SE7EN SOUTH's Mr. Jesus on a compilation of religious tunes to be released this month to area radio stations.
